The Doolittle House

Continuing the mission the follow the boundary of the park I was directed towards the home of artist, Beverley Doolittle and husband Jay. They commissioned architect Kendrick Bangs Kellogg and designer craftsman, John Vugrin to make this starship of rock, glass and metal that emerges from the giant boulders. It was recently sold to a Google executive for $3m and you can see a timelapse video from Palm Springs Architecture and Estates that shows off this James Bond villian-esque lair.

Although entranced by the unique design I’m most intersted in how it works at the edge of the park. John Vugrin is back working on some renovaton for the new owners and was kind enough to give me his take on the location and show me around.
