Highway Shrine

On highway 160 between Walsenburg and La Veta there’s a shrine in the rocks which apparently began as a memorial to a group of nuns killed in a road accident. It has now grown into something more with quirky and charming tokens ranging from archetypal religious characters to the more idiosyncratic wizard and marionette and personal items such as a hub cap, necklaces, bits of fabric, a bottle opener, a dog chain and several handmade crosses.
