Colorado fires

I’m a bit behind with my blogging as my laptop died and has been in the hands of the Genius bar in Colorado Springs. I did see the smoldering fires when I went up to the Apple Store, this is the view from the mall, scarily close but fortunately now under control. This state has forest fires every summer due the the dry weather but this year’s were particularly out of control. The Waldo Canyon fire alone near Colorado Springs has burned 18,247 acres and destroyed 346 homes, making it the most destructive fire in Colorado’s history.

In this satellite image taken on Wednesday of the burned-out scar left by Colorado’s Waldo Canyon fire, the fire, forest and vegetation that was spared appears bright red; brown marks the burned areas. The darker the brown, the more severe the burn.
